Provisional licence application checklist

  • Minimum 17 years old OR 16 and applying for Personal Independence Payment
  • Pass eyesight requirement
  • Be able to read a car number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres
  • Have a valid form of identity (current passport, biometric residence permit or UK certificate or naturalisation)
  • Proof of identity (i.e. passport)
  • Provide addresses where you have lived for the past 3 years
  • Pay £34 fee
  • National insurance number (not required, but makes process A LOT easier)

Note: Expect licence to arrive within one week of online application
